It’s your old friend, Big Tuna, back again with some more info for everyone planning oncoming to party with us at Mai Tai Mayhem! I wanted to make a few things clear going forward since this is our first year doing the damn thing in full force. Last year we couldn’t really have tons of rules since we didn’t have control over the entire venue during the event and there were other events going on in addition to non MTM guests staying at the hotel.
This year, as you are probably aware, we have committed to booking out every room and doing a true takeover and because of that we wanted to lay out some ground rules and guidelines to make sure everyone has a great time. Keep in mind, these are without exception and in the interest in saving myself and the rest of the team as many headaches as possible while throwing a huge party. Don’t take it personal, it is what it is.
Look, I’ve got kids, I love them to death, but they don’t need to see the drunken and sometimes very adult oriented shenanigans that happen at a tiki event. There are plenty of other tiki events that are more kid friendly and not that this one is on par with Times Square in the 70’s, but there’s most likely going to be non kid friendly things that occur and for them and your sake, have them stay home.
I know we’ve got a handful of vintage camper folk in our midst, and that’s awesome, but if you plan on setting up in the parking lot, you must make arrangements with the hotel which will involve booking a room. Honestly, March in Ohio is a crapshoot. It could be 80 and sunny all weekend or it could be a blizzard, there is no way to tell, and since you’d have to pay for a room anyways, you are probably best off just staying in the hotel that way the weather is not a factor. If you are dead set on staying in your camper, that’s your call, but know you will have to make arrangements with the hotel.
Ok, this one is a little less black and white than those first two rules. The hotel does have a pet policy, and this is directly from their website “Pets permitted. $50.00 per stay. Maximum of two pets per room. Maximum 50 pounds each. Pets must be registered at front desk upon arrival and stay in Pet Friendly designated rooms. Based on availability of Pet Friendly Rooms.”
That part there is no argument about. That being said, I’ve received questions about this previously and here’s all I will say. You know your pets best, if they aren’t good with other people or possibly other animals, it’s probably best to make other arrangements for them.
I love my pets, I also know my dog is a giant goof and she gets stressed out around other dogs, so I don’t put her in those situations unless it is for a specific purpose. We all love animals and don’t want to see them stressed out and we don’t want you to have to spend your whole weekend in your room because your pet isn’t having as much fun as we all are.
I’ll keep this one simple, just don’t. Look, most of us have had a night where the sauce took us somewhere we didn’t plan on ending up. Everyone has bad days and I get that. That being said, if we’re receiving complaints from other guests, or the hotel staff, or you’re objectively being an ass and bumming everyone out, you’ll be asked to leave and there will be no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. Please make it a fun weekend for everyone and avoid this one. There will be security at the hotel and PD is always a phone call away so just keep it in mind.
Along the lines of that last one, this is an event to have fun and let loose among friends. If you are having an issue or someone is harassing you, come find me or one of my cohorts and we’ll help you with whatever the issue may be.
Please complete this survey and let us know what you loved and what we can do better for our 2025 Weekender! We can take it!

Poepoe Room: Round room overlooking the pool
Barney Google’s: Fireplace room near bar, named after the original Holidome hot spot
